STUDENT VISA

The British government warmly welcomes Vietnamese who wish to study in Britain.  The large majority of those who apply for student visas from Vietnam are successful.

To obtain a visa, you will need to show that you have been accepted by a British educational institution, that you are able to undertake the proposed studies (eg that your English language ability is adequate to follow the course), and that you have good reasons for wanting to do so.  You will also need to show that you have access to enough money to support yourself throughout the course without working.  In addition to course fees, you will need to have enough funds to cover living and other incidental expenses, which are typically around £6000-£9000 per year.

To help us process your application, you should submit the following documents with your completed application form. On receipt, the visa officer will decide whether she will require any additional documentation. Please submit original supporting documentation and a full set of photocopies. Your application will not be accepted without all supporting documentation.

  • Your passport (which should be valid for at least six months beyond the end of your intended stay in the United Kingdom)

  • Recent academic results and qualifications

  • An acceptance letter from a British educational institution, specifying course details and tuition costs

  • Details of proposed accommodation and its cost

  • Evidence of funds available to support and maintain you throughout your course.  You will normally need to show that the funds have been available in a bank account for at least six months previously; evidence of your parents’ employment and property.

  • Your household booklet

Each application is assessed on its merits, and the Embassy reserves the right to seek further information. Following interview, you will usually have to obtain medical clearance.

Applicants have to satisfy the visa officer that they meet all the requirements of the British immigration rules.  The onus is on you to show that you meet these requirements.
